“He should’ve had a better welcome than he had,” Sequoya Turner, a lifelong Oklahoma resident, told Politico before bursting into tears.

Waller County Sheriff’s Office said she died “from what appears to be self-inflicted asphyxiation,”

These “officers of the law” have made up everything in this case, I am convinced of it.

She was probably vocal in letting them know she was aware of her rights and wasn’t going to be silent or passive in her mistreatment. That sounds about reason enough for these racist pigs to kill her.

I suspect you’re not telling the truth and if the obviousness of not wanting caustic chemicals on your scalp isn’t well obvious I’m not really sure there’s anything I can say that would change your mind. Given that you don’t even have the language right I’m going to go on and assume that you’re lying and aren’t

Good for you, I guess.

Like I said you have no fucking idea what you’re talking about and since you also don’t seem to do the reading thing very well you can just wallow in your ignorance and pretend that white supremacy and its beauty standards has not a thing to do with how afro-textured hair is seen in this country and pretend it’s the

What I would like is for people to recognize that the overwhelming majority of people—let alone teenagers—do not have a working knowledge of the issues concerning their consumption of, and engagement with appropriated culture; let alone the finer points of identity politics.

Nope...neeeeever been a celebration of a white person’s cornrows.

intersectional feminism became a thing bc of mainstream feminism’s/feminism’s beginnings were focused solely/continue to focus on white, cis, financially stable women. you’reusing it in the wrong way.

Class plays a part but let’s be very clear that black and white women operating in the same worlds - those with time, money and able to get to the gym after their single full-time job - are not similarly chic to the larger population. At all. That’s what she’s getting at.

and focusing on black women doesn’t negate what other women go through either.

One of the main problems with appropriation is the way that when white women appropriate black features (or styles: see nail art, cornrows, etc), society suddenly treats these feature/styles as beautiful thanks to the transformative power of whiteness. So when Kylie posts a picture of her new lips and cornrows to

She’s basically saying that white women are celebrated for doing things that black women do. Black women twerking? Disgusting and ghetto. White women twerking? Cute and fun. Black women wearing cornrows? Ghetto. White women wearing cornrows? Chic.

I think corn rows on us reads as ratchet and thuggish and on white women it reads as “edgy” and High fashion. Beauty standards are different and that bleeds into sexuality and how each is treated.

FUCKING AMANDLA STENBERG FOR PRESIDENT OF EVERYTHING
