That’s life though, isn’t it. I mean, I also remember how much I wanted one of the full sized dolls (because no, having just the small one wasn’t the same at all, obviously) and how much I obsessed over that whole rich girl lifestyle, too. But in the ranking of things that hurt me being a poor kid it’s still pretty

I remember that dress! I liked Samantha’s better. That little fur muff was adorable. I also lived in permanent envy of Kirsten’s blond hair, and her braided updo.

That’s just life, honestly. I’ve said this to my friends who grew up upper middle class before, but poor kids find out pretty quick that Santa isn’t real. It only takes that one year of begging for the toy that everyone else has only to get something from the dollar store under the tree instead.

I had Addy, too. She was my favorite. I liked them all though (I have 4 sisters, so there were plenty of the American Girl books and dolls around). Except Felicity, because I remember thinking all her books were ever about was her stupid horse, lol.

The mini versions are $25, that’s what I had when I was a (poor) kid. And the books are in every public library and school library in the US, I’d wager. It sucks that the big dolls are so much more but it’s still possible to be into the whole American Girl thing if you don’t have money.

I use Prime video quite often because I have a fire and a fire stick for my tv, and it’s okay. The streaming quality is worse than Netflix but better than Hulu imo and unlike Hulu there are no commercials. In my experience the streaming music is really excellent, but then again I listen to mostly older music so it

I’ve had grilled avocado and I don’t like it, personally. It’s worth trying to see if you like it, I guess?

Well, Prime does come with a lot of perks nowadays. There’s free streaming music, Prime tv, and I think you get some free cloud storage too, plus a couple other things. It’s not just the shipping.

Does anyone believe Rob Thomas is legitimately so dumb that the joke he was trying to make was just that he’s such an extreme partier that he’d drink until he didn’t know who he was anymore (so, until he didn’t know whether he was white or not)?

Yes, I do. Not every time, probably only once or twice a month. Dressing up does nothing for me but he loves it so it is worth the effort.

I agree, I would love to have a woman in the White House for those reasons. When I was a little girl I dreamed of the day I would see a woman president. But not just any woman, and not just because she’s a woman.

I think the “special place in hell” thing can apply on a personal level. Like if you are in a position to help lift another woman up or look out for her, yes, do that! Example - if you see a woman being harassed in the workplace and you’re her supervisor, you do not let that shit slide! I do not, anyway. Or if you’re

I hate the “supporting other women” narrative applied to this situation. It’s such bullshit. Older feminists I know have been baffled when I tell them I prefer Bernie. They ask “But don’t you want a female president? That would be huge for us!” How insulting is that? To me and to Hillary, reducing both of us to our

Ah, ok, I still haven’t gotten around to seeing that one yet. She should be fine, then. It’s not like the songs (from what I remember) are that technically challenging, anyway, I think anyone with a decent voice could pull them off, it’s more about the personality.

I don’t think the physical resemblance is that strong but in terms of her ability to play that role, I think she is one of the best possible choices. Granted I don’t think I’ve ever heard her sing, but she is so talented and she absolutely has the warm personality that’s needed for the part. I hope she does it!

Now, now, Cooterlee. Don’t underestimate yourself. It’s not truly finished until you butt in, six weeks later, to add your own two cents.

Ah, I see they’ve given up empathy for Lent.

I wish I could give you a link to the tea I’m thinking of, because her stuff really does work better than the yogi brand women’s tea in my experience, but unfortunately she sells out of it frequently so I don’t think she even sells it online anymore. She sends batches of it out to local groceries and coffee shops and

It is fantastic. I discovered it in a bit of desperation when my cramps suddenly got much worse during college. In fact it might have been someone on Jezebel who first recommended it to me :)

Sounds worth a try. Thanks for sharing, I’d never heard of that before.
