“Hey I’d totally vote for a woman, unless there’s any form of man on the ballot paper as well.”

I don’t think they specifically told him to gain weight, but it was implied if he gained weight, he would have a better chance at being cast.
I used to have physical therapy at a place that was right next door to a crossfit box/gym/torture room. My therapist talked about how she sometimes ended up treating people who had injured themselves at said crossfit place. They’d go to one or two PT sessions, decide they didn’t like the advice (don’t push through…
The thing about Bake Off is that there’s no prize. You just win. And that’s it. You won. There’s no monetary or other kind of objective career advancement. Plus, they don’t live together, in some kind of forced artificial arrangement that will allow tensions or hard feelings to be created outside of the competition.
THIS. this this this this this. Did I mention, THIS?
100% agree with everything you just said. I do feel like I took back my life. I have lost 60kg (132lbs) and counting and I feel so much better about myself and my life is so improved, I am so much more active and feel comfortable in my own skin for the first time in almost 20 years.
I genuinely hate the whole “push through the pain” exercise narrative that I always see floating around - that it hurts but you should just power through because that’s what you do.
Gee, what a great way to make people feel like their efforts are worthless if they’re not pushing past the point of endurance! What a…
Ya, its a really complicated topic because there are so many emotionally charged aspects to it. I get where the author is coming from because TBL is emotionally and physically abusive, it seems to be trying to be better, but its inherant premise is just unhealthy. Its counter intuitive to a lot of people, but when…
She was the face of it for many years, she built her entire career off of it, and she was directly responsible for the contestants training. Which was horrible from a personal training perspective I’d add. She may not be “At the helm” but she sure as fuck is a lot of the reason the show has the reputation is has...…
I always hated this show. My sustained weight loss sounds a lot like yours, it’s been 19 years since I was at my heaviest, and in the beginning, the weight loss was almost entirely down to a healthier diet.
I believe The Great British Baking Show may be the exception. I know people will say Paul is a jackass, but I think what tempers that is the way everyone else mocks Paul right in front of him. I find this show very soothing.
Are you fucking kidding me?? How is this not a scandal???
Well, I didn’t really watch the show. I was in grad school while it was in its peak and it kind of happened at the edge of my cultural awareness. I knew it was there in the same way I know the Bachelor and Survivor are still...somehow...things, but I didn’t watch.
I’ve long hated this show as it is exploitative as fuck. While I strongly disagree with the notions that sustainable weight loss is not possible (I myself am proof it is) The Biggest Loser teaches literally all the wrong lessons on how to do it. So instead of getting into the more controversial social topics I am just…
What the fuck???
And people wonder how Dump reinvented himself into the White House. This is literally his schitck that he performed gleefully for years on his own reality show: cruelty and judgement distilled into a hit of sweet, evil dopamine for people eager to “other” everybody they can.
Oh Hell No!
Jesus Christ, thats terrible!
Years ago, I had a friend who was trying to get on the show. While he was already very overweight, he was actually trying to gain more weight because of what the producers said they wanted, which was obviously a spectacle.
Indeed. But the Biggest Loser has the added element of where it is shaming a significant portion of the population as well. I’m tone deaf, and I’ve never felt shamed by American Idol because I can’t sing.
