Gamepad is terrible for shooting. It all comes down to the fact that you need precision. You can't get precision with sticks. But you sure as hell can get precision with a mouse.

If I had a choice when it comes to console (especially FPS or TPS really) I'd choose mouse and keyboard. Console games need auto-aim, and auto-aim makes me feel like an idiot. :'(
