My husband is constantly asked to come in on his day off, when our son has a standing appointment that my husband takes him to. His boss is like, “can’t your wife do it”. No, I cannot, because I am at work and it is husband’s fucking day off.
The idea of 39 weeks paid leave makes me want to cry - it’s a punch in the gut to imagine something like that as the norm for women outside the US. I can’t even imagine how much easier that would make having a kid.
So now that shitty parental leave policies are affecting men (because more men have realized they want to be more involved as parents) does this mean we’ll finally get some improvement in paid parental leave? I guess it wasn’t important when women were asking for it. Sigh.
