I’m black.
I’m black.
So when, I said “we” I meant, human beings living in America.
I don’t really believe in sins so I will just leave that part out.
I thought he was a doctor.
it’s like trying to down play slavery anyway. I don’t really believe in sins so I will just leave that part out.
Well the history is actually more complex than that there were all sorts of tricks owners of the indentures could use to prevent indentured servants from gaining their freedom, like charging them for room and board and transportation. And slaves did have some rights those were greatly diminished over time as slavery…
No but we already knew they were treated differently.
I don’t think he was nodding to those people though, I think he just always calls slaves that.
because I had just said they weren’t indentured servants. I agree with you.
I was just pointing out that an indentured servant is closer to being a slave than they are to being a servant. I can understand how that euphemism would have entered the lexicon and why southerners use such platitudes to attempt make…
I could have sworn just I said “all slaves aren’t indentured servants.”
Yes.
All slaves aren’t indentured servants but all indentured servants are basically slaves. The people holding the debt of indentured servants can charge them for living and travel expenses and essentially keep them in hock in perpetuity.
I mean “indentured servants” is what they called the white slaves so I don’t think it is such a huge misstatement.
You’re not wrong.
uh.... ok.
How the hell do Black Panther and A Wrinkle in Time have the same audience?
Some men (most men) are capable of recognizing verbal and nonverbal cues. Some are not because they’re on the autism spectrum or socially impaired for any number of reasons.
Uh.... I don’t think Amazon really qualifies as a “conglomerate”. If you wanted to use the label on Comcast or ATT or even Univision it would be much more appropriate.
Hello? Hello?
