@TashaRobinson:disqus Fair enough, and I do really like Rescuers Down Under. But what I love about the first movie is that Bernard and Bianca drive the plot - they decipher where the note is from, they discover who Penny is and where she might be, and they save her.

The Xerox look works for a number of movies - 101 Dalmatians uses it to great stylistic effect. At other times, it looks messy and half-finished, as in several moments in The Aristocats, and all of Robin Hood. I think the colored outlines in this movie are an interesting experiment - at times it works, and at other

I really am bucking the trend by thinking the first movie has a slight edge, but the second movie is definitely worth watching.

Check out what The Rescuers looks like on blu-ray - you can say many things about the quality of the animation (and Tasha does, above), but it's impossible to call it washed-out and dull in high definition.

Ah, I apologize for misreading your review. I do tend to think that Cody is pretty darn generic and bland, but at least he isn't nearly as cutesy as that awful Penny. Really, I just miss the aspect of the movie where the Rescuers do their rescuing. They pretty much just luck onto finding Cody, no detective skills

I don't disagree with this review, but reading it, one would think that Tasha liked both equally (B/B-), but the grades are C and B+? Does the movie that is "generic and bland" get the B+? The movie that has personal charm and a sense of menace and malice get the C?

The image quality alone makes this worth buying. My parents still have our old VHS's too, and glancing at them now, it's astonishing how grainy, dirty, and dim those prints are. The BD looks pristine, as you might imagine.

Yeah, I like this show for the same reasons pointed out in the review and the other comments. It's never a water-cooler show, certainly not great art, but it makes me happy for an hour every week, and that's a worthy goal for any TV show.

I figured you were serious by saying that, I just can't believe it.

Me too, chocolate. Although that Press Your Luck thing does sound interesting. That'd be my second choice.
