I actually did something just like this for the car I bought in 2015. There were lots of new cars available with the equipment level I wanted for about 30 000 plus. But I didn’t want to be stuck making payments for 4 or more years. I instead bought a 2 year old car for 17 000 with roughly the same equipment level of

Used BMW’s are iffy enough, but add a huge aftermarket supercharger and you’re guaranteed reliability issues, No Go, and No Dice even at 800 dollars.

You can certainly delete the “almost” from this paragraph.  Starred you anyways.

I guess I’ve seen a lot of these because I live in Canada.  I can’t see a single reason why American trucks wouldn’t also want to make use of them.

Yet with the long stretches of straight highways in Western North America, a manual feels like an automatic on road trips.  Just as sleep inducing since all you have to do is keep the cruise control at a certain number and slow down for one or two speed zones.

I would have bought the Hyundai Sonata hybrid had I been able to afford it. Used ones were unobtanium.

When you answer a question such as this start with the obvious: I want a fuel efficient vehicle that is also comfortable for up to 50,000.00.  The obvious thing is that he wants either a hybrid (regular or probably plug-in) or an electric vehicle.  Everything else won’t fit someone who has lived in Europe for a long

I had an 80 Zephyr Z7 coupe with the split vinyl roof with the 6 cylinder auto. It was the most gutless vehicle I’ve ever owned but I loved it. It was also the most gorgeous metallic blue with white vinyl.  If I saw one like it I’d go deep into debt to buy it.

The only thing left to decide is whether it qualifies for David Tracy Unicorn status; Nice Price!

How is it that Sony can build an EV while Apple (the world’s highest value company, currently over 3 Trillion Dollars) can’t?

Yet those Escape based models make a whole lot more profit per sale than the prior Fusion.   This is what Ford’s been working towards.  And once the Maverick gets up to full productions those numbers will compare much more favorably to the best years of Fusion sales.  (Of course you could also include the Edge in

I bought a brand new 2 1/2 years old Fusion this past summer.  It was a 2019 Titanium Energi Plug-in Hybrid and it only had 1500 km’s on it (1000 miles).  It had been owned by Ford and was used to train technicians on their plug-in hybrid models.  I love it.

There is no one around that remembers any of the quality issues of the original Airflow.  Most of us who are in the target range of buyers (baby boomers and younger) only remember the Airflow as a design ahead of its time as seen in car magazines and museums.

In our province, we simply have a no right on red sign for those intersections where this might be a safety issue.  Quebec is one province in Canada that doesn’t allow red on right at all.

Wouldn’t a more attention grabbing headline be:  Michael Jackson was killed by a high pursuit cop?

Even then you wouldn’t have the fighting edge of a spear pointed at you in a collision, so even then it would be safer than the columns of the day.

Yeah, I’m back to being in the minority: Nice Price! Only one other comment on this: “. . . that may make it a better candidate for saving and rehabbing than would a uni-body truck like the modern Bronco.”  Although the new Bronco Sport is a uni-body, isn’t the new Bronco a body on frame built on a Ranger chassis?

Just look at the polling numbers of the potential Biden vs Trump election in 2024.  Trump wins by a large margin.  Didn’t anyone learn anything from the disastrous 4 years of the Trump administration?  The inflation numbers that has Republicans yelling at the top of their lungs are mostly a result of Trump policies.

Are there really that many people who track their daily driver?  I have driven for 40 years plus and I’ve never yet taken my vehicle to a track.   I suspect most people are in the same boat.

David, this article reminded me of the crazy story Don Sherman wrote for Car and Driver in the 80's after they took 4 “sport sedans” into Mexico and hit a cow among numerous adventures. Your adventures are epic as theirs were.
