I agree, I actually sold my pickup and got an SUV so i could haul stuff that needs to stay dry much more easily then got a dump trailer because it’s a lot more useful than a pickup bed in every way. Maneuverability is different but sometimes it’s easier to reach somewhere with a shorter vehicle and an articulated

The weird one is coolant. All the towns i’ve looked for disposal info in so far have resulted in the waste water treatment people saying just put it right down the drain and we’ll take care of the coolant. Still makes me feel uneasy when getting rid of coolant.

(edit, clarifying i’ve only ever asked this for a few

Yes i am feeling rather smug today with my Manual Cayenne :) I love that car.

Crack pipe because the manual supercharged first gen is supposed to have an E-series transmission. the C series transmissions are absolutely awful.

how about a radial 5 in an MR2?

Like a Toyota Ace minivan engine of course :)

I will give this a bit wider definition than many others here have. A manual or even a manual mode on an otherwise automatic transmission needs to meet the following requirements to be considered a manual (or a proper manual mode)

1) I need to be able to put the vehicle in any gear that i want. a +/- sequential setup

It really depends on the gear ratios to be honest. in the 5 speed wrx i don’t even get to 5th in the city, 5th gear is strictly for highway fuel economy. in the cayenne i get to 6th at about 30mph unless i’m trying to accelerate but the 1st in there is a granny low. in the sidekick i basically never go into 5th unless

CP!, I bought this exact truck only a 2008 for $20k. I love driving it in town, i love beating it up a bit and i love how it tows the race car. but there’s no way i’m paying $30k for it.

Mr. Mercedes, There are a ton of nice cars in the lineup these days but why are there no manuals in there?

Yes, yes and more yes to this. Funreliable vehicles are what adventures are made of. one example is this car i bought 3 states away from a NPOCP and drove it home:

Just speculation but i bet that flat 12 isn’t a boxer because 6 cylinders in a row do not have a balance issue. so this is just two balanced 6 cylinder engines sharing a crank and everything is balanced without the opposing bank.

It isn’t illegal. the backup camera is an FMVSS requirement which is only an “as-delivered” requirement and makes no rules about how the vehicle has to continue to operate after it is sold.

I’d be currious to hear from someone on the inside, but it’s my understanding that at WOT conditions it may be possible to have enough carbon monoxide make it through the catalytic converter(s) and once it reaches the flamability window in concentration and hits the minimum ignition temperature this is what you’ll see

I know it’s easy to say this, I’ve got an ‘08 GTS with a manual transmission and i never have the intention to offroad it. it’s my tow rig but one of the vehicles i tow with it is my offroad rig and that gets me into some really nasty parking spots sometimes. the cayenne has no issues at all doing three wheel

This is what i came here for, thank you!

Yes, a shifter and a 3rd pedal would make this excellent. I’d DD the heck out of it!

Start stop is great and i think when we move into more IMS setups even the shudder will be gone. I also love that the idea is quite compatible with manual transmissions. if the stick is in neutral, the clutch is out and the speed is close to zero, kill the engine. of course it needs a layer of additional safeties and

if those pictures are right it definitely has coil springs
