If I were a trucker, I’d be pissed. As a civilian - with an understanding of safety being the primary goal - it probably makes sense...

It depends on the situation. It’s always nice to be courteous if possible, though obviously within reason.

Not quite, the VIN was actually legit. It was pretty much the only thing that was legit. And I think they ended up saying the car was not leased, but financed... though payments stopped happening in 2009 (with money still owed).
