"All art has a message. " Not really. And what we take away from art, is entirely subjective.

"Every variant cover is an official cover. "Variant" is just a marketing term used to give the illusion that it is somehow more rare or valuable than the normal cover. It's not. It's just another cover." But the fact that it's not the ACTUAL cover implies they didn't think it was right or good enough doesn't it? You…
Repeat after me: Some find muscles sexually attractive, and being attractive can be both a male and female fantasy.
I wish someone would tell me what the difference is between drawing "sexy" and objectified. If the spider-woman cover is objectification, what would she look like if she were just "Sexy"?
That's a pretty big leap. How does someone turn an entire group of people into sex objects with a comic book?
Their argument was about fantasy.
He did it for a variant cover, it's not the actual official cover.
I t the spider-woman cover is a variant cover not the official one.
"So you can't argue male superheroes were ever intended to be sexy; they were intended to be a male power fantasy." Wouldn't that only be true if being attractive could never be a male fantasy? Can't being attractive be a fantasy of men and women?
Wait is it the exaggeration that makes it sexist?
Can you explain to me how say, that drawing of spider-woman is contemptuous to half the human race? And how it would be possible to draw a woman, emphasizing her sexual characteristics, without expressing some contempt for women?
This entire article is pretty terrible lol. And the comments are pretty bad too.
That only makes sense if AAA games are the only ones that count. It's more fun to tell others what to make when you're not putting up $70 million or years of your life.
"This is technically true but completely irrelevant. Sure, you don't have to buy it, but it still exists. "
I'm gonna try to cut this down a bit.
You're mistaken if you think half the internet sees the picture the way you do. I'd be surprised if even half the people who clicked on this article did. A character you're already familiar with becoming an object because you saw her ass? Don't think that happens as often as you think.
Nah I'm basing it on the little coloring that was done on her ass. It was just an outline and some shading. Face has more lines and more colors. It's safe to assume the face was more difficult and even took more time, not that it would matter.
"Yeah. I can't speak for her (because I'm not her), but I'm pretty much 100% certain that she does not believe that "punishing representations of female sexuality" was an actual conscious, explicit goal of the developers. "
Luckily enough a good amount of games are cross buy, just don't sell it lol.
"Well, paraphrased, something like that. I don't read that as her saying that the developers are literally into murder porn, though. When she says "the player is encouraged", for instance, she's talking about the design and its emergent effects at least as often as she's referencing any sort of deliberate creator…
