When is the human stuff not boring and dreary? Whenever I put one of the Japanese ones on I skip the human stuff too. I’m thinking this one was better received because it wasn’t 95% boring humans with one underwhelming monster fight at the very end.

The first book was a slam dunk. Jake and Walter are even in it. Hell, even the 4th book would have been fine if they really needed a stupid origin story. Who thought including all the convoluted world jumping and half-men would have been better received by an audience who likely hadn’t read the books?

Good foreshadowing just has you thinking the sudden plot change makes total sense while also taking you by surprise. Like, I don’t know, the end of the First Law trilogy.  The writing of this show did not have the ability to pull of that kind of subtlety.

If you want it done right do it yourself.

I liked Hellraiser 3 when they were running constantly on one of those premium cable channels.  Somehow I doubt 14 year old me had very good taste.

Man I am so tired of origin stories. So now we have a character with no/multiple origin stories (You know how I got these scars?) and the potential for every Joker sequel to be feature-length exposition.

I was really looking forward to this when I first read the manga.  The tedious sequel series hadn’t come out yet. James Cameron was slated to direct and he hadn’t been absorbed into Avatar yet.
