Yeah, but I want it to sneak into my garage. That’s why I keep bugging the owner about it ;)

I know where this ‘72 4spd manual one is sitting (and has been for a few years now) and the owner is content to let it rot. I think it would be a killer project and wouldn’t take much to get her going again.

Well I didn’t list it above with the rest, In high school my “baby” was a ‘70 Coupe as well. It was as a 302/C4 auto car originally, however before I got it someone swapped out the 302 for a 351W. I finally sold it about 6 years ago, kind of wish I hadn’t though.

Yeah Ive seen them on at least 3 harlequins. Not my thing. I like my deep dish wheels too much. Now maybe if someone wanted to make me a set of custom 3piece bears with lots of lip, I’d consider it.

Mine was a 351C-4v, and pretty light on the options. Light pewter metallic silver in color, but no stripes (just the lower black paint), and no spoiler or air dam. Also it had dog dish hubcaps and trim rings. But It was awesome.

Ronal Bears... Can’t bring myself to do that.

Styling is subjective though. I prefer ‘71-73s to a lot of the earier cars. And I also like the 4-eyes foxes better than the aero look 87-93s.

Yes! Brilliant until 1970, crap until the 79s came out (and those were only “not crap” compared to the Mustang IIs), pretty good from 87-93, crap again until 2005.

Yep it’s a factory limited edition. Here’sJim Ellis VW in 1996

Yes...absolutely. In fact there a couple of solid colored ones floating around in the wild. Rumor is a few VW dealers, who had a hard time selling them, made them solid colored again to get them to sell. They are most likely repainted instead of panel swapping though as it would be cheaper and easier. Also very few

You could do either, however a couple of things if you did....
1. Two of the colors on the car, namely Chagall Blue and Pistachio Green, were colors never offered on any other VW in the U.S.
2. The interior is unique to Harlequins and a model in Europe known as a “Joker” edition. The seat cloth matches the outside

The insane prices RS’s bring is the only thing that has kept me away from them. And you are right. They look great on almost anything.

There are 4 color combinations. All of them started out life as one solid color at the factory, and then had their body panels swapped around. I assume you are asking because you have probably only seen the Blue base ones like the one parked next to mine in that pic. They seem to be the most popular, plus Mike’s car

My favorite Borbets are Type-T.

But Borbet Type A’s are quite popular in the VW community as well.

I myself am partial to ATS Cups for my 80’s wheel fix. My Harlequin wears them well.

Right.. I know it does, but it’s not. Now granted there is a little bit of perspective going on. But that Wrangler was legitimately massive compared to my XJ.

Actually I’d argue that all the modern overdrive derivatives of the Chrysler A727 and A904 transmissions (like the A518, A999, A500 etc..) were absolutely bullet proof. Now I do agree, that in the mid 90s and up until recent where their transmissions were not very good. Personally I would buy the manual, so the I

Close... Mine is a ‘90.

It’s got a palpable gain. Don’t be dense.
