It was one of the things that influenced me to buy my Abarth, yes. And 4+ years later I’m still happy with my decision.

Neither does my 2012 Abarth. I do wish the radio was a bit better or at least easily replaceable.
Problem is most cars it just comes right back on the next time you get in. If there was a way to disable and leave it disabled that would be great. Example: my mother was going to buy a new Volvo V60 Wagon. She drove one and hated the “Start Stop” tech. Yeah you can push a button and disable it but it comes right back…
I’m all for these things being a “safety package” that you can add to any car if you want them. That is currently the case in a few cars as a matter of fact. I think the Challenger falls in that category, but you and I both know that will fade out or not be an option. They’ll tout this stuff as either A. Standard…
No... thanks to the move to CAN Bus electrical systems all that equipment is now integrated into the cars network because in order to function they need to be able to talk to every other sensor in the car. They don’t function on their own, so you can’t just pull a fuse and make it go away.
Is this really a shocker? I’m 39, which puts me in the Gen X group, and all my friends in and around my age hate all this tech. My coworkers Ford beeps and complains constantly about lane departure and she hates it. My best friend gets annoyed by his Mazda beeping at him when the throws his turn signal on to change…
I’m in middle Indiana (Lafayette-Crawfordsville area) and the the price difference is between .60-.70 cents. Just a year ago it was .50, and I’ve been watching it steadily go up over the last couple of years. I drove away from a station the other day where the difference was .90 cents.
Can I immediately trade it in on a new Passat Wagon Syncro manual?
So prior to government subsidization, technology never has progressed an inch on it’s own through out all of human history. Governments formed and boom.. bronze age? Subsidization of technology for technologies sake by governments, instead of private entities is a phenomenon of modern times, the big exception to this…
Man using internet without any sense of context: “The govt shouldnt subsidize new technologies!”
I notice nowhere can you find any info on how much more expensive this electric trash truck is than the traditional diesel one. I did find one article (that I can’t open at work due to streaming media) mentioning getting grant money from the state for this. SO... The taxpayers are paying a bunch of the added expense…
I hate modern CAN Bus wiring in cars. It makes doing anything with the electronics a complete nightmare. And tracking down shorts and wiring issues is basically near impossible with a meter now.
In today’s age of hybridization, turbocharging and general SUVing of cars.....
The Golf Sportwagen is on the short list too. My previous two cars were a VW Passat Wagons (which they no longer make). One of which was a VR6 manual (which they killed long before they killed the Passat wagon in general). I’ve also had Forester wagon manual for a while. So, you don’t need to lecture me on, if you…
So... you’re going to buy the new Buick then?
To all of you Jalops that have always said “If only it was a wagon...”
I totally missed that when I read the article. I don’t know, but it’s a weird mentality IMO. It would have been even more apropos, had the Saab been a Viggen that they were just going to abandon on the side of the road.
Not necessarily. In MN anyway ou can still get a “Salvaged” title after an inspection.
While i like what you’ve done with it personally. I hope you kept the original bits.
