Name a “non-exhibition” series (whatever that means), then.

To be fair, Rob also drove a (marginally, but consistently) faster car.

Been there, with the Versa specifically. In the days when it was the “hot new thing” (bahahahaha), so 2009-ish, we were shopping for a compact hatch for my mom. Santa Monica Nissan had a bunch, but refused to negotiate even for MSRP, instead insisting its awesomeness was so awesome as to awesomely warrant a $3K

Ah, cool, thanks for clarifying. Yeah, that would have made for a fun finish.

What the hell are you even responding to?

Be fruitful and multiply, my child. Preferably solo.

Oh, I’m pretty sure that if you unwind Jalopnik’s F1 coverage back nine years, you’ll find that plenty of people bitched about it. Also, di Resta crashed less than a lap from the finish, bringing out the SC.

Might as well add red shells and bananas.

If your brand of entertainment is the series disabling power to cars (and fucking it up in the process), sure, it’s entertaining. So is Forza.

Neither does F1. DRS isn’t some kind of a surreptitious trick nobody knows about.

I dunno, you tell me.

And had he not done that, there would have been a different “only one outcome”, but the race would have finished under a SC and a different group of people (myself included) would have called it a farce.

That’s hilarious. Someone arguing on the side of a technicality calling ME pedantic.

I...don’t hate it.

Nothing, that’s the point. A full four minutes passed between the two announcements, which contradicts your “matter of seconds”.

You can interpret it as cause and effect. I choose not to. Also, your facts are off. He didn’t change his mind in a manner of seconds - had he done that, Merc would have had options. But Merc fucked themselves plenty. They even played out the SC scenario with Lewis on the radio earlier - and then chose not to follow

But nowhere does it say they can unlap just some of the cars in order to provide a cheap spectacle for TV.

No, it wouldn’t have. Danny Ric and Stroll were directly behind Max. It would have taken them all of an extra five seconds to pass. As for Mick...another ten?

Yeah, but Merc/Lewis fans would still have been screaming about “the rule.”
