And it looks like he was 5 laps down at the time of the crash, too... wonderful.

They are the best shoe for this purpose.

No, but I can give you the “older brother” picture:

Out of curiosity, why do you want a newer one? Do you want injection, or A/C, or airbags? Or just the (somewhat) more modern interior?

Just pulled mine out of storage this weekend. On my way back home, this happened:

“We spend tens of thousands on cars and go-fast parts and we don’t want to spend a couple thousand on things to protect our bodies and save our life”

Well, there you go. I hadn’t cared enough to look, and people are talking about it like they’re planning to accept and use that name. Maybe they are - but I hope not.

Because they think it’s a good way to drum up interest. How many people would have any interest in the naming of that boat if it wasn’t a public poll? Obviously not many. So if their goal was to get people interested by having a poll, it worked.

I’m torn. I like the look of a hard top, I hate the driving experience of a (fixed) hard top, and there probably isn’t THAT much of a weight penalty. I should love it...

My car is barely even worth five figures. The valet still isn’t touching it.

You could put $30k in cash under the passenger seat and this still wouldn’t be worth 35 grand. Yikes.

My car has the VIN* from another car etched on the back glass. It’s kind of awesome.

Took this picture at 4:30PM today:

I think you actually responded to my comment that said basically that.

I’m fine even spending a couple grand. I just don’t see the value in spending $3k on one of these... with a few thousand miles on it.

Hah, I actually considered buying it but got scared off a bit when I talked to the guy and he mentioned the estimated 80/20 weight ratio. It’s not a bad deal, I just get nervous. Looks like a blast.

Yeesh. I went to get some parts and the Grom they had on display said “Ask for Price” which is probably definitely not good news.

I’m really really hoping this drives down the price of, uh, both. Most of the used Groms on Craigslist are pretty much still right around MSRP.

They’re both fun in their own way, and there’s a lot to learn from both. I personally find it a lot more enjoyable to take a perfect, smooth corner - and then tie it into the next one - but there’s a lot to be said for darting around a tight autocross course, too.

I still go because of the social aspect, but usually it’s more like “Oops, time to go do my run!” than anything else. Plus, it’s a good chance to beat on the Mini occasionally.
