Can confirm, it’s useless. The only exception is when the cargo area is fully packed with your crap and opening the entire liftgate would result in a crap avalanche.

Which is why a REAL SUV like a 4runner has always had a roll down window.

Because it’s actually not all that useful. You can’t drive around with it open without risking damage, and anything that’s on the floor you’re going to bother opening the entire liftgate anyway.
