You obviously didn’t watch the presentation, because your numbers are way off. The Tesla semi comes in two variants: a short-haul version with 300miles of range, and a long-haul version with 500miles. Let’s look at the long-haul version:

This is pretty typical of Japanese culture. I’ve done lots of business over there, and the mentality of absolute perfection and delivering exactly what you promise is deeply entrenched into their cultural mindset.

You haven’t driven a brand new 2017 Model S then. It felt every bit like the luxury car it is. Handling was sharp (although the car’s weight is noticeable), the seats were fantastic, there were no squeaks or rattles anywhere, and everything felt every bit as nice as the current BMWs I’ve driven.

That’s a fair comparison, sure.

Tesla already sort of admitted that with newer cars getting “AutoPilot 2.5" hardware. Same camera and sensor suite, but a beefier GPU. There are rumors that Tesla has moved future GPU development in house.

As both a Model 3 reservation holder and an iPhone X owner, I can see your point of view, but have you considered that Tesla actually makes really good cars? I test drove a Model S with astronomically high expectations given all the hype around them and it surpassed them all. If a Model 3 is just 50% as good as the

Ugh, tell me about it. I tried to get a CPO Model S for exactly the reason you stated, but Model S prices are still so high that I’d easily be looking at $70-$80k for an AWD Autopilot V1 car.

People that have headlight wipers: how noticeable are the effects, really?

No, it’s the natural derivative of a car designed to drive itself in the near future, for better or for worse.

Ugh, I hate peddle stompers. Taxi drivers in Korea all seem to drive that way, and it gets me motion sick in about 5 minutes. I don’t get car sick or seasick any other way, but that constant on-off throttle motion just gets to me.

Yeah, but Volvo goes off the deep end in the buttons department. Other makes strike a better balance between touch screen functions and buttons.

Yeah, I was never insulted by his portrayal, it’s just not a new joke in any way, so I found it dull.

Samsung already makes cars (sort of) in their Korean home market. They’re basically rebadged Renaults, but they’re not half bad to drive.

Have you seen how a Roomba “navigates”? I don’t want my car ping-ponging all over the place, thanks.

Having driven both the i3 and the Volt, the i3 is a much more engaging vehicle to drive, for what its worth.

My Leaf has a whirring noise at low speeds, and actually beeps softly when reversing. Without it, I could drive right next to someone in a parking lot without them hearing me.

Yes! I even saw it during its debut at the BMW HQ.

My thoughts exactly.

(The car can come in an automatic, which isn’t the case with the WRX STI. You can even see the cursed thing in that interior photo above.)

No, I have the H6 engine in the Outback, which I realized I forgot to mention earlier. While it shares some components with the EJ engines, it’s mostly all its own design, and is regarded in the Subaru community as a very reliable engine (I can attest to that). It’s never suffered from the head gasket issues the NA EJ
