My husband and I always talk about how parks and rec is superior because for the most part they are able to make humor with nice characters - which is really hard! It is also why the Jerry/Gary/Larry thing drives me up a wall but at least the show gives him the benefit of living his best life.

The Wedding Singer is a perfect romcom I’d totally watch it if it came on TV today.

Also target demo here and will watch the second half ANY TIME. I watched it on TV recently after a particularly rough week dealing with a bad sexual harassment issue at work and was cheering on all the rich white industrialists dying at the end. It was SUPER cathartic. 

Footlight Parade is my go-to Berkeley watch when I’m down. Joan Blondell is wonderful in it!

grr! I just finished Z and I enjoyed it. I especially like the 25 minute run time for a period show, I thought it worked really well and I thought CHristina Ricci was great (unlike in Lizzy Borden - which I hated!)

not quite this trope, and set 50 years ago so dealing with a decidedly more old fashioned set of gender roles- but did you ever see “An Education” with Carrie Mulligan? It was really much more from the young woman’s perspective and is a lovely movie.
