Heartbreaking picture, and I'm struck by how comforted this little girl looks by holding the flag to her. I'm guessing her mamma told her something right about it being a symbol or part of her father.

@twinkette: Sorry for your loss, and that of his little girls...

@zoethebitch: Eesh, not sure the Aborigines have it so great, what with the high rates of poverty, hunger, sex abuse, and alcoholism due to years of systemic marginalization and discrimination...

@hortense: Ugh, I HATE "Am I the only one who...?" NO, you're NOT. And if you'd read down the page maybe oh 3 comments, you'd see you very much are not!

"it is what it is" makes me cringe. When did this start?? I feel like suddenly about three years ago everyone started saying it.

For me as a child, Sesame Street (found it condescending, though oddly Mr. Rogers and Today's Special was all good) and Where the Wild Things Are.

@schweppes: I think that's definitely part of why it *worked* (and yes, I think it's clear his PR person needs help or just needs to exist!), but I do think she has changed her image. Well-calculated crying on the Today show, different clothes, softer makeup— everything to appear warm, and trying to be strong.

@schweppes: Eh, I'm with nancydrewme. I think everything she has done in the past few months has been an extremely well-calculated image makeover (seriously, who is her PR person??).

@Little Green Frog (Wise Latina): Oof, that's a tough one. As a high school girl I probably would have been uncomfortable with a boy, trans or no, using the restroom with me.

@AndPreciousLittleofThat: Hee— an anti-crouton min-pin. I think it does actually say, "What does one not have to do to earn his crust". i.e. share (of bread). Croute=crust.

@rd2uk: I'm not the original commenter, but I took it to mean her first ancestor to arrive in the United States (since she notes she is a Black American).

@largirl: My brother relapsed (drugs and alcohol) after 10 years of sobriety, and for no particular reason. It's been about 4 years now, and he's still not sober I don't think.

The comment that floored me the most is somewhat in the same vein as the bonus comment above.

@kemperboyd: Oh boy, seriously?? Do people not check these things before they use them for their "advocacy"?

Very cool! I don't have meetings in the Capitol very often, but when I do I try to take a quick walk through the Statuary Hall. Hoping for one soon so that I can see her new statue!

@utensil42: It might be for comfort— my boobs are on the larger side, and spending a long time without a bra on can be really uncomfortable. I don't need a ton of support if I'm lounging around, but a tank or cami with a shelf bra, or in this case a bikini top, is more comfortable.

@winowino: Not wrong, really, but completely unsolicited. Which I think is kind of rude. If you can't say anything nice...

@missing_piece: Thanks for clarifying, I haven't read his blog yet. Huge difference between "beating", and having to resort to hitting a violent, out of control child.

@victoriaglynn: Wait, what?? If all that is true, why hasn't social services stepped in?

@Tegan1023: I don't know enough of about schizophrenia to form an opinion on this little girl, but it does remind me that a friend's nephew had a slew of diagnoses as a little boy that included bipolar and schizophrenia, and was heavily medicated for each of these accordingly. Until they found out he was "just"
