I’m honestly shocked that the podcast has lasted as long as it has. And this guy calling himself a friend, while all other evidence suggests he was a client who got a little too personal, makes it extra creepy. Friends don’t speculate wildly about friends on public forums. Every part of Finding Richard is

I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt that he’s agreed that this next episode will be his last, admitting that he himself believes that the “Richard just wants to be left alone” theory is the most probable one...it still disturbs me that it sounds like he will make one last go at talking to Richard in this last

My biggest fear in life is that I will somehow become famous and have to deal with this kind of shit. I can’t imagine living a life where I don’t have the option of just melting into a crown when shit gets to be too much. This podcast guy is awful.

I have to wonder a little if this is the new 21st century version of a stalker. Like it sounds like Simmons for one reason or another decided he didn’t want this person in his life and now the guy is harassing him in hopes of forcing contact to happen. If a guy was doing this to a female star I think we all would have

I kind of feeling like saying leave Richard alone.

Many people are genuinely concerned about Richard, but this guy isn’t. He’s like my mom, who makes my problems (or joys) all about her so she can talk about them.

Yep. That was the vibe I got too. Stalking someone is not quite the same as being concerned about their health and safety. It’s using false concern to gain access and manipulate.

“that’s just us telling them what could happen” isn’t exactly reassuring, and in fact has a hostile feel to it.

I remember going to SXSW when it was a direction.

Yes.

aren’t you cool

Happy to see you report on this. I hope more big name artists sign on to the petition and SXSW changes their policy.

Maybe add language to the contract stipulating that prior to deportation, subjects may be lucky enough to have the pleasure of visiting the luxurious Lubyanka resort for some q&a

If you have to explain that while you’re at work, then they’re the kind of co-worker nope was made for.

The Podcast That Puts You To Sleep | A Lulling, Droning, Boring Bedtime Story to Distract Your Racing Mind

I don’t know if I could use those shows as I have never seen an episode. The thing about L&O is I’ve seen 99% of the shows and so know I won’t be ‘missing’ anything by falling asleep to them. I’m weird

Oh, phew, I’m not the only one who prefers to fall asleep to the dulcet tones of murder procedurals. L&O is great, but if I get too hardened, I have old recordings of Cold Case and Elementary.

Even Netflix proper is getting into this. Look up “Slow TV: Bergen to Oslo”.

Nothing puts me to sleep faster than a NASCAR race or NFL game. I am not trying to say either is boring, it is just something about the audio that is like an industrial-strength sedative to me.

My variant on this is to listen to super-boring audiobooks. I sleep with someone who has low vision and is eligible for the National Library Service, which offers a huge selection of books read without enthusiasm. For bedtime we pick old titles like Grant’s Memoirs of the Civil War, or a biography of Bess Truman, or
