If you have gas with ethanol in it, the ethanol does nasty things to to fuel systems when it sits. Newer vehicles/equipment are able to better handle it but older vehicles and equipment can be damaged by it.

It would have been nice if Ford could have avoided that whole dry clutch DCT transmission debacle in the Fiesta/Focus. I’m sure Ford lost buyers of any of their vehicles for life over that.
