That only happens if you only have one pokémon on your team. You will also get visitors through StreetPass and SpotPass.

Why can’t it be both energy/data and life of luxury? They get changed into data but still exist, so the pokeball creates a paradise for them. Their perception of reality in the pokeball is that of luxury.

This is the video game developer equivalent of you parents saying your dog just went to a happy farm for a long nice vacation.
