If I were The Rock I would take this as an opportunity to find a weird supporting role I know I could crush in some small-to-mid-budget dramedy, especially if it’s a little bit self-effacing. But he won’t do it for exactly the reason he should: he’s too obsessed with his brand. I think everybody, him included,

I think it’s about The Rock doing more brand management and Disney figuring as long as they don’t put too much money in they can probably turn an easy profit. Black Adam tanked and The Rock’s reputation took a huge hit at the same time. He might be either pivoting to more family-friendly stuff, just hiding out in a

Yeah, this makes no sense whatsoever to me.

Except - hmm - as a stealth way to introduce a new LMM song to try and finally get him that Oscar/EGOT... (edit: but if he’s already involved in the live-action Little Mermaid presumably that’s going to be another crack at it already, so who the fuck knows)

The hierarchy of live action remakes of Disney animated films is about to change!

<checks calendar>
nope, not April 1st.
ok then

To this day I say “smashy smashy” on what feels like a daily basis. Can’t believe in my lifetime I’ll get to say it during a real animatronic robot uprising!

The pink rollerblades are a nice touch. Ron DeSantis is probably punching his computer screen.

“It’s tone was too inconsistence — was it supposed to be funny or serious?””

It really irritates me that some people out there still insist on saying this every single time, when every single time, as you note, the answer is “both.”  It’s both.

WHY didn’t Kang, if he truly was the “good” Kang, just come out and say that he was trying to stop all the evil alternate Kangs that want to conquer the multiverse rather than threaten to kill anyone that stands in his way?

Agreed on all counts. It was a fun romp. I don’t go to these movies expecting some deep introspection on the duality of man or whatever. I go to these movies for a thrill, and that’s exactly what this was.

Taika Watiti’s latest Thor movie would’ve benefited from someone at Marvel reeling him in quite a bit more. It was such a waste of a cool story.

Oh, are we still playing this drama out?

This is why Taika Waititi, James Gunn, and Chloé Zhao could never make a Marvel movie.

This trailer feels very much like every D&D game I’ve actually played has felt.

I guess there are people pulling off House of the Dragon-level grimness, but I’ve never seen it, even in settings and adventures that are supposed to be all serious business.

Plus it’s bluster.

Interesting, it looks like Sophia Lillis’s character gets more Tiefling-esque in form at some point than just the tail you see a few times, there are the trademark horns we all know and love. And she might have green skin, but that may also be the lighting.

Pretty sure Michelle Rodriguez was born for this role.

Not every joke landed in this one (I’m still not a big fan of Justice Smith’s “bumbling”), but it still looks really fun, and way better than the last Dungeons and Dragons movie I saw in theaters. And oh my god, does Michelle Rodriguez just looks sooo good as a barbarian. Like, wow.

That movie looks like a blast! Regardless of the WotC fiasco, I’m getting tickets. I’ve waited too long for a good D&D movie.

Kate’s awesome and all, but I’d really like to see Osgood’s reaction to the new style. Here’s to hoping.
