I mean this narrative is self-evidently false. Even on the golf course, the president is always accompanied by the guy with the nuclear launch codes, and of course, multiple Secret Service agents. His location is known at all times because of course it has to be - he’s the fucking President of the United States. He’s

Counterpoint: In the case of an actual emergency, this president is the last person you’d want to inform until it was absolutely necessary.

Chelsea Clinton pointed out on Twitter that when her father was in office and she needed to reach him, she would call the White House operator and they would put her through to him, wherever he was. The notion that the PRESIDENT OF THE GODDAMN UNITED STATES would be unreachable is bonkers. What if there’s a bombing or

Rule #1: Never post a video when an article will suffice. Most people don’t have the time (or an appropriate setting) to watch a video, but all of us have 60 seconds to read a condensed list of tips.

Um, A. Because context matters.

Given what people know about Sacha Baron Cohen, and his well publicized gimmicks and how he despises the right-wing, it should be taken as clever trolling.

The hard part is having this shit pop up when you least expect it. If I had joined a white nationalists or even a pro-cop group, I would expect racist memes. But I was looking for camaraderie over a unique shared experience, as far away from Punisher logos and Hurricane Katrina jokes as one could be.

I hear you. My thing is safety too, because this and Drunk Drumpf’s rants that revved this up scares the daylights out of me.

I mean the military takes poor and desperate people and fills them with hate in order to make them ok with killing people, so mystery solved?

Hate groups actively target military, both planting their members inside and going after people who’ve just left and are transitioning back to civilian life. Statistically they only get a tiny amount, but it’s very significant nonetheless.

This isn’t a hot take but Facebook is a fucking cesspool. I joined a naval submarine veteran group to talk about the good ol’ days and catch up on fleet gossip and it was all the same White Lives Matter, racist memes and awfulness.

The largest pipeline for LEO recruits is the US military. Now, is the military simply attractive to these types or is it actively radicalizing people? (Probably both).

“This is not who we are” meaning “We aren’t used to getting called out, usually we just get away with it.”

It’s always wild how people respond to allegations of racism with “this is not who we are” or “this is not who i am.” Like, being accused of racism is somehow worse than the act, or that racism is purely a crime of the heart, so it’s much more important to not be seen as racist than it is to just not do racist things.

Combined with thousands of citizens responding with “Yes hell it is.”

Cue hundreds of police departments across the country simultaneously releasing statements saying, “This is not who we are...”

My spouse works for law enforcement. It’s a good group. No, really. When they get calls of “suspicious black men”, first they demand to know what the poor soul is doing that’s so suspicious (almost always nothing), then they bitch out the caller for wasting their time. They regularly train in deescalation and conflict
