It’s his V-trigger. It allows you to just keep pressing the punch button to shot out sonic booms after the initial one. Every character has a V-trigger and it’s different for each character.

It all makes for a fantasy world that is easy for a gamer to understand. But, at the same time, it’s hard not to wonder how a world like this came about naturally within the context of the story.
