I found the dreams stopped when I was handling stress better in real life, and when I was actually getting enough sleep every night.

I’m almost 30 and I still occasionally have the same stress dream I had the night before my first day of high school.

What comes naturally is to slam the left (or center) pedal to stop in an emergency. I know a couple people who daily drive electric cars, and I’ve never once heard them tell me they forgot to hit the brake pedal when necessary.
