People don't pay a terrible amount of attention to the over-arching plot. Hell, the entire second season of the show itself seemed to forget there was an over-arching plot.

This feels like a bit of a reach to me. The underlying apocalyptic motifs are largely overlooked by most people I know who watch the show. Sex, violence, intrigue, clever dialogue and compelling character development are what make it enjoyable, just like every successful piece of fiction in the history of ever.

Based on your comments, I think you're confusing the Kree and the Skrulls. The Kree look mostly like humans except that half their population has blue skin, which is why most people think that the creature in the tube was a Kree (the other half of the Kree species look basically like humans - skin color and all)

Doesn't matter if they do or don't. Its about enjoying the show as is. Not every show should be about characters who start off as despicable and redeem themselves in the end.
