Social science indicates that women’s responses after the trauma of sexual assault are varied. Some women do cope by avoiding sex. Other women become more likely to engage in sexually risky behaviors. Increased risk taking can also be a symptom of ptsd among other causes.

Yup. Also, why would she admit vulnerability to a cop? I don’t doubt that Vera probably wanted out in the moment Ani found her. After all, she went with Ani. Vera is sober now, though, and has to deal with the fact that she is incredibly screwed. Her best way out at this point is to either disappear or screw over Ani

I disagree with you on the chemistry between Ani and Ray. I also want to note that it is extremely common for rape victims and women who have narrowly avoided rape to act in some way to take back their sexual agency. That can include initiating causal sex in ways that seem “out of character.” This is major issue in

I agree. I really like this episode and thought that everything flowed logically. It was actually the first time Frank didn’t make me groan too. He is much better as a character when engaged in violence apparently.

Ani fucking Ray was heavily foreshadowed actually. It is cliche but not coming out of nowhere. Ani has an established pattern of sleeping with inappropriate men from work. That’s what got her the sexual harassment complaint. And while Ray says he’s a bad man, he seems kind to women and was concerned that Ani was sober

I think that the difficulty photographing wildcats or even seeing them when they are are in zoos is part of it. They hide really, really well if they are in their natural habitat or a proper habitat in captivity. We also have a lot less information on many wildcat species than on other animals in conservation projects

Aw, cats really do take after their wild relatives.

Most small wildcats are very hard to photograph in the wild. They are stealthy predators that don’t want to be seen and are also small enough that they need to hide from larger predators. That’s why camera traps are so awesome.

I love the fact that they basically build cat nests. They also come in black.

They are adorable. So is my avatar. We margays are bigger but still very arboreal.

I knew that many types of chickens were bred to no longer be broody. I had no idea about the genetic details, though. They are really interesting. I heard from a friend who studied poultry science in college that the breeds of chickens with the least broody instinct also tend to be the most aggressive towards other

They only work partially for me but seem to work better with goat or sheep dairy rather than cows. I’m glad you can still enjoy some dairy too.

It’s not crunchy, though. My dog would be disappointed.

Yeah, I didn’t think you did. :) I just find taboos about identifying where food comes from funny. Also, cultures do have very different standards of normal food. I have a friend who grew up in a costal area of southern China who finds cheese disgusting. She loves any kind of seafood though. I grew up in the

Which is cool because the animal is not going to waste. But it is also really weird that we eat skin and hooves for dessert.

True. That’s why sugar-free candy is dangerous.

Rich, powerful scum protecting each other.

I know it’s real cream when I get stomach pain within a hour of eating it. :( I could have dairy as a child and I can’t even eat butter now. Whatever chemistry replaces dairy in baked goods is awesome; bring on the polysorbate 60.

Nifty. It’s a shame modern dinos sacrificed their teeth to decrease weight and fly.

I think that’s typical for invasive species. I also know that places where they have culled cats in the past have had trouble with invasive rats multiplying without enough predation. Culls of rodents to protect sea birds have been successful on isolated islands, but it requires a lot of effort and using poison to kill
