Only problem with that is per the article, the lack of a crash test is due to the NHTSA not testing and not due to the manufacturer not wanting to participate and the fact it states automakers are crash testing their own products.

After more than a decade holding out on this website I’m about ready to leave. This is literally the worst developed website I visit daily and it’s becoming way too much. The experience feels as though it’s made to suck on purpose.

Am I the only one getting auto-forwarded to the Root as the first “related” article pixel that pops up at the bottom of the article or the end of the comments.

column shifters are even less useful than bench seats and bumper jacks. good riddance.

It’s very similar to the people who buy full-sized SUVs so they can look tough while driving solo 95% of the time but have that extra space for those two road trips they take per year instead of buying a compact or midsize SUV and renting a Suburban or minivan when they need the extra room. People tend to make

I’d have a Focus in the family fleet now if they weren’t equipped with glass transmissions.

Second vote. There’s no transmission. You don’t need any extra bits that do exactly nothing. And how is driving an EV boring?  The acceleration is as addictive as any other drug.

That’s up there with fake gear shifts - a thing introduced to mimic a slow auto, whereas manufacturers of ICE vehicles have worked for decades to make the shift as fast and unnoticeable as possible.

Lidarly every other article on Jalop is hating on Tesla/Musk. He’s never off their radar.

I’m sure Elon Musk also ate breakfast today and a Cybertruck owner somewhere did something if you’d like to report on that, too.

Out of the god awful music being made today I really don’t mind Nickelback. Now if it was Five Finger Death Punch driving a CT I would be all in.

Yea, overall, they are just kind of trash from an accuracy basis. I have one for my insurance via my phone and I get all kinds of “infractions” even when driving normally. Going around a turn at the speed limit? Infraction. Getting on the highway? Infraction. Emergency braking because someone stepped into the road

This angers me to no end. It’s an invasion of privacy. Also, my real beef is this: What constitutes a hard acceleration or hard braking? Would the insurance company rather I didn’t use the braking capabilites designed into my car and simply smash into another vehical?

I understand that you have your quarrels with Musk due to his political views. But actively campaigning for the downfall and cheering the failures of a company that employs tens of thousands of your fellow countrymen seems very childishly petty to me.

You are way too triggered by this. It’s fairly standard legal wording in an a slightly but not entirely uncommon application.  In an increasingly litigious environment expect to see more of this, not less.

Get back to cars and stop obsessing over Tesla every fucking day, Jalopnik. The comment numbers are collapsing and the site is deteriorating.

Tiktoker is an idiot. Or smart enough to know that she’ll get views by being dumb.

I see no problem here. If you’re dumb enough to risk your life for a software update, so be it. Social Darwinism for the win.

A TikToker

You have to try to do this. The app notifies you that you have an update. You have to click start the update now or whatever the go button says. Then it gives you a two minute countdown to change your mind and cancel (or exit the vehicle). Then it starts to update. Incidentally, I’ve never had an update take 40
