    Gawker - dead!

Watching Tyler Hoover devolve into Motor Trend content is a little sad.  Doug needs to calm down on 35 minute reviews as well. Can’t say I’ve watched any “real” car shows since Wheeler Dealers got ruined.

Hadn’t thought about that in years! You literally forget because it’s a non-issue.

He’s a TFB born on 3rd base who thinks he hit a home run.

I built a prototype of this about 8 years ago. Just goes to show you how huge the gap is between idea, proof of concept and actually selling a product and making money. The one I made below cost about $5k, and provided 5 miles range in an hour-long charge. Not exactly stellar value :)

Tesla would like to thank everyone for the 10 year head start

I paid off my 1.5% auto loan 4 years early last year using money from my trading account. The money that stayed in that account made 45% last year. Don’t be like me, kids.

I’m old enough to remember buying a Model S for under $50k. Granted it only had about 120 miles range and 0-60 about the same as a fast Camry.

    That traffic got CALMED

I get rated range in the summer, and about 70% of it in the winter. The battery and cabin heaters suck down electrons. One of the upsides of a gas engine is it wastes so much energy that the heat is free.

Too bad it wasn’t all electric.  Sure, let me be on the hook for a turbo/super charged Volvo 4 banger in addition to all the power electronics. Absolutely love the exterior design though.

If you go for 2 and make it, you get to keep going for 2 until they stop you.

Parking lots are almost always private land, just not your private land.

What a worthless half-measure. Why would I want to drag around a 4 cylinder, including all the extra maintenance, for performance that gets smoked by a full electric? Just make an electric performance car and I’ll buy one.

Welcome to 2012, BMW!  But seriously, please make your regular cars electric soon.

Charging an EV is so stressful and annoying!” - people who don’t own one

The best way to solve this might be to make the app a double auction with Uber as the market maker. Drivers each set the ask for various trip lengths, modifying them as they see fit. Riders set a bid for the ride they need, and increase their bid if there isn’t a ride for that price (or find alternate transportation

My wife has a 2012 and I drove it for the first time in ~6 months and laughed out loud at the “acceleration”.  But it’s a good looking car for what it is and she likes it.  It basically costs nothing to own.

My microwave dings 3x, repeats every 30 seconds AND beeps when you preemptively open the door. <Sobs quietly>
