I suspect my practicality was born from a deep understanding that, should I become pregnant, my family could not be relied upon for support. I’m glad your family was there for you.

As a minor, I didn’t have my own credit card. Even if I had, I shared a physical address with my parents, who would have opened the mail.
I suppose I didn’t say it, but I was specifically thinking of young people. Those with access to cars can always drive to the sketchy gas station at the edge of the county.
Between them and the San Francisco hippies I met in grad school, it makes for some interesting Facebook.
Yeah, there’s definitely that, as well. They tended to be the ones running the show where I grew up.
Some of their kids are now also religious extremists, but they were definitely experimenting back when we were teenagers.
They may not have anything better to do than fuck, but they also don’t have access to contraceptives to the same degree. The town I grew up in had one grocery store (which my dad owned). Had they sold condoms (spoiler: they didn’t), they would not have been available to me personally. The local drugstore did not sell…
I love Sears. We recently moved to a place that still has one, and I have bought tires, a lawn mower, a washer/dryer, and a kitchen aid mixer there. If we are still here when it’s time for tires, then it’s back to Sears for me.
The comments in articles about the “retail apocalypse” are always so frustrating to me, as someone who has over a decade of experience filling in income gaps with retail work. There are so many people who are so quick to say, “Good, I hate the mall!”
Some of the folks saying it are literally the same commenters that…
Yup.
I “lucked into” an assistant admin position after my masters. I didn’t have any of the necessary experience, but the head admin was a horrible boss who had been secretly blacklisted by all of the temping agencies in San Francisco, and I was friends with her nephew (who did the job for a summer and then recommended…
I’m still in the relationship and could list all the dirty laundry now. You don’t talk about it while you’re together because you want everyone else in your life to support your decision to ignore those things. He doesn’t have that list, but the ability to ignore negative things in his life, hoping they’ll go away, is…
I’d be super comfortable being a size six, but these thunder thighs are all about progressive attitudes and other body types. It’s definitely political and not genetics combined with a penchant for cookies.
Alas, cost and distance are both prohibitive.
... classical.
I’ve taken meds from a host of families, and nothing works well for very long without major side effects.
There’s a chance, but I’m not sure anyone is really equipped to assess it? Things are pretty dark in Trump supporting areas, and I’m not sure they’re as ready to give him up as those in the progressive areas like to believe.
It’s not a magic bullet. It’s just an experiment I’ve thought about, and my professizonal life is in a place where I’m less concerned about drug screenings and those consequences.
I did one summer in food service, and I should have thought of this.
I think she’s going to send the kid to work in all the coal mines that Orange Overlord is going to reopen ...?
You are thinking of Toby Keith. I’m not sure how you concluded he was a liberal ...? He also has a song called “Taliban.” I’ve never made it more than halfway in, but it appears to be racist AF.
If I had any, I think I’d start with them and not the internet. My crew is incredibly straight-laced, to the best of my knowledge.
I live in the states, but not one where marijuana is legal.
