I hope you aren’t trying to suggest that education is the key to changing their belief systems, because I can assure you that facts are only met with, “Blargh blargh blargh wordvomit something awful that makes me regret my parentage blargh blargh embarrassment blargh blargh.”

Picture Jabba the Hut, but with the face of

My parents are staunch Deplorables and have had a lot to say about some of the major protest movements since Occupy Wallstreet. The bulk of their pronouncements boil down to whiny crybabies with nothing better to do, begging for handouts, and the other Trumpy soundbites. They appear to view protesting is some sort of

As I was trying to read the paragraph about how Hollywood has the memory of a goldfish, the advertisement below blew up to five times its normal size and flashed the words YOU’VE BEEN PAID $1400!

Which I assume is why Hollywood has the memory of a goldfish?

Why is Amanda Seyfreid in the bottom right?

WHO IS WATCHING THIS VIDEO? It’s been playing on the radio non-stop, to the point that if I change one station to avoid it, it is inevitably in progress on the second option.

I would pay money to hear this song fewer times in a given day. Can I please trade lives with whoever is seeking it out?

Yeah. They told me over the phone and I opened my mouth to shout something like, “REALLY? AFTER YEARS OF CALLING YOU ON RACIST B.S. YOU’RE BEING PERSUADED BY A TV SHOW ABOUT FICTIONAL PEOPLE?”

Like ... hey Nick, IVF is a tricky monster. What if you get Emma and Isabella personhood or whatever and they just don’t take? WHAT THEN?

Is it population control? In the sense that it helps me control whether or not I contribute to the growth of the population, yes.

I know that’s not what he meant, but I am cranky today.

Just down the road at another Kansas university, a girl took a photo in a clay mask with the caption “feels good to be an n-word.” Also not “intended to be racist.”

In a lot of cases, it was.

Some things are universal, I guess.

My grandfather was an immigrant and faced a lot of racism because of it. He served his country as a spy for his previous home, and did a lot of gross stuff in the name of a country that wouldn’t fully accept him until he was in his sixties. (He was never allowed to fly a plane, which continues to be his biggest sorrow

I did a little mini lecture about Shostakovich in one of my classes the day before the election.
