A lot of stuff is more tolerable when you aren’t parents. And then when it isn’t being reflected back to you by your teenage children.

Holy cameltoe, Batman!

Yeah, I was mad. But then I was relieved he was empathetic, instead of wondering if she was into kinky sex and/or asking for it.

I am surprised they appear to share a hair colorist? But otherwise not surprised.

Because it takes hella long to cook lentils and the dollar menu is instantaneous. Because the dollar menu can be eaten in the car on the way to second and third job and lentils are messy.

On the flip side, my partner tells a lot of people I don’t have patience for a lot of things. And I sort of have to let him because he listens to all my behind-closed-doors rants about how much I hate dealing with those things.

I can’t read this without thinking of that scene in Prometheus.

You know the one.

“Switch to public school” doesn’t work in states where a degree in education is needed to earn a teaching license? I also don’t teach a thing which is offered in most public schools.

I am performing exactly the duties outlined in my contract, and nothing more. They’re paying me exactly what they said in the contract, and not the more.

We’re both getting exactly what we signed up for.

I didn’t realize it was a movement, but yeah. This is exactly what I’m doing - no more or less than was outlined in my contract.

This is basically the point I’m making with the other dude in this thread who says it shows my lack of moral fiber.

I’m doing my job adequately for adequate pay. If they want more than adequate, they’ll have to show me the money.

Contingent employee. I can bring it up, but it’ll just screw me down the road.

Since I’m a college adjunct, when I’m being paid my full rate, it’s still not a living wage. There is no insurance and there are no retirement benefits.

This semester, I subbed two maternity leaves and was paid for one. Since this is the second or third time they’ve managed to make me agree on a rate and then changed

My employer has stiffed me on some additional pay recently, and I’ve found it overwhelmingly difficult to do any more than the quality of work for which I’ve been paid (which is about 75% the quality of work which I would otherwise do).

I guess Trump should hope his guards have stronger work ethics than I do.

As someone who has a deep aversion to hugging anyone but the most intimate acquaintances, i have found that backing away from a hug while narrating to the tune of an 80's power ballad often conveys the point in such a strange way no one gives you grief.

My dad taught me to spell chicken, “S-H-I-T” and sent me to school. And then he told me all the puppies in pet stores who aren’t bought before Christmas are euthanized. (That one I believed for an embarrassingly long time.)

Dad humor. It’s the worst.

They’ve been broke. Every year the government goes into pause because the state constitution does not allow for a deficit, and every year they’re like, “Well, we can’t re-institute the taxes we cut a few years ago ... so let’s just take it out of schools and roads and shit, and maybe only partially fund the fire

When people on the street will assume you’re anti-abortion and kind of racist because you don’t have horns and a tail, it’s not a huge jump to quote Dred Scott and Hitler.

Depends on who you’re talking to, I guess? The people who voted for the people in charge think it’ll turn around any minute now. The rest of us are kind of looking around and wondering what the hell is going on.

I work at a university in a university-oriented community, so my thumb is not exactly on the pulse of the
