Yeah, what a blatant ad for a game that came out 30 years ago...

Mortal Kombat 2 on store shelves now!

Mortal Kombat’s huge impact is far more likely to ignite some sort of emotional response from TV viewers than a fake game that is mentioned a couple times on a videogame they probably didn’t play.

Great review!

Correct me if I’m wrong, but this is the longest we’ve ever gone between mainline Mario games at this point, right? Feels like we’re due for one, or at least a new entry in the NSMB series.

Honestly? The whole bit read as irony. I’m not sure how it couldn’t be.

same here

“So, this is my stand-up set at a club,” Larry said. “There’s, like, 50 people here and no one is laughing. Anyone have any suggestions? I’m thinking about doing a bit about how being transgender is actually a mental illness or how all liberals are secretly gay and want to impose their will on everyone or something

Backtracking is a feature bc it’s a Metroidvania. But there’s certainly a time-respectful way of doing this, and Fallen Order definitely had a few places that were huge pains in the ass to get to/from and were just begging for fast travel.

Honestly, that bit comes off almost like an insightful joke about how washed-up aging comedians try to stay relevant in 2023. “No one is laughing at my jokes. Maybe I should try saying hateful bullshit about trans people and liberals.” Just replace Jerry with Dave Chapelle or Louis CK and you’ve practically got a

I may be using this term incorrectly, but that seems like a “meta” joke to me; a joke about how bad those ideas are for a joke.

Maybe AI isn’t that advanced yet. I don’t even know if I understand the concept of “meta” humor.

Is it just me, or did it sound like the AI was almost riffing on transphobic comedians? “No one was laughing.” Like it was pointing out that that shit isn’t funny.

It’s 100 percent nostalgia at this point

I don’t think anyone can enjoy most of those early 3d games without nostalgia.

I wish I could get behind the Ori games, they’re beautiful, but holy god some sections devolve from difficult into just plain aggravating.  Some of those extremely lengthy escapes where one fuck up sends you back to the start become not-fun, very quickly.

They still haven’t revealed why Mario is summoned to a world he’s never been, which is weird, but that’s its own thing.

I’m not sure how I feel about this game yet. I was interested at first, but it sounds kinda stuffed with filler and overall nothing is described here in any real detail.

It’s cool that they’re still supporting a game that most likely isn’t generating enough revenue to justify that support. Maybe they’re contractually obligated to support the game for x years in their contract with Disney? Either way, can’t complain about getting free content.

I don’t see how the 30th Anniversary Edition will devalue cards, since that product is basically just official proxies. It’s a dumb product, but that isn't why.
