“I think if we show we take conservatives seriously and we take ideas seriously there, we get a lot more moderates paying attention to what The New York Times has to say.”
Is it brilliant? I don’t see people really giving up in the idea of real gun control, and seem to be seeing more calls, from all over the political spectrum, to actually ban AR-15s and take other stronger measures. If anything, pushing for such an overtly absurd idea as arming teachers has shone a spotlight on just…
Pablo Neruda is a prolific concern troll. Take nothing he says seriously and report him wherever he appears.
I also read the first graphic novel and was wildly underwhelmed. I was looking forward to it, as I really enjoy zombie fiction and so it seemed right up my alley. But god, the dialogue was so, so bad, and the zombies didn’t follow any goddam rules. The show somehow exacerbated all this.
Like Ley, I also quit watching after the second season, when I realized (accepted?) that the show was terribly written and really f’ing stupid and that I hated basically all of these horrible over=wrought characters and did not care one bit if any of them lived or died.
Just another NRA toadie doing whatever they can to delegitimize any effort to reduce the proliferation of and access to guns.
Something that will actually make it difficult for someone to acquire a gun.
I truly, honestly believe that the NRA and its members and its defenders do not care one bit about a bunch of dead kids.
None of those crumbs are nearly acceptable. The starting point for negotiations is a repeal of the Second Amendment. We’ll move toward the middle from there.
Ah, I see what you are now.
“Demonizing gun owners and calling for a ban on semi-automatic weapons will probably net more opponents than calling for reasonable restrictions and regulations.”
Not in enough numbers to win anything. The NRA only has about 5 million members. Many gun control measures opposed by the NRA poll well over 50%. If anything, we need to ostracize and demonize the ammosexuals much more harshly than we currently do.
Trump isn’t Catholic and has never pretended to be.
Oh, I believe her, and agree with your post. It’s the complete lack of empathy that strikes me, and the lack of self-awareness. Loesch is scared because somebody out there with malicious intent toward her might be armed with a gun — which she has personally worked so hard to make sure are easily accessible to those…
It’s still pretty funny. We just aren’t young enough anymore for it to seem like the most amazing thing ever.
“... The Simpsons, a show that hasn’t been good for 20 years.”
The best indication that someone might pose a threat to others is that they are seeking out or already possess a gun. We should consider documenting these people and put them on some kind of watchlist.
We have to avoid chasing the gun vampires down their rabbit holes this time.
Loesch immediately ran from this town hall — where, hilariously, she claimed to be scared of violence against her — to her safe space at CPAC, where she basically took back anything even remotely reasonable or empathetic she said to the survivors’ faces.
