Nova launcher is a much easier “fix” for annoying UIs. Doesn’t require any hacking, i.e. unlocking bootloaders, and is incredibly customizable. I have a Google Pixel and my first download was Nova.

Apple imessage works with every SMS messaging service on Android just fine. I chat with my friends that have iPhones with no problems.
