I’ve heard of the broccoli thing, but I never realized it actually tastes sweet to most people.

Mine isn’t that bad, I do seem much more affected by BO and other stenches than my friends. My girlfriend always cracks up when I’ll react to some stinky person on the train that she doesn’t seem to notice.
I’m the same — I find IPAs to range from mildly irritable to flat out disgusting, and have what I’ve gathered to be a stronger sense of smell than others.
What’s pissing me off most about this story is that THIS is what finally gets some Republicans to consider dropping their support of Moore. The fucking guy holds horribly regressive, wholly un-American religious views that would make a member of the Taliban blush, which Republicans are all good with. But now, NOW he’s…
Correction: Nearly every Republican voted in favor of dismantling healthcare for tens of millions of our poor and middle class, many times over. A tiny minority of Republican legislators and all the Democrats prevented that from happening.
Thanks for explaining moral relativism and how ethics have changed over time. You’ll go far assuming everybody that disagrees with you is ignorant and stupid.
Ethics really aren’t flexible, though. And while morality can be all over the place — for example, some people think homosexuality is immoral, and other people aren’t bigots — we aren’t talking about morality in general, we’re talking about using obviously unethical methods to avoid paying taxes on earnings and…
I think you’re saying whatever you think will antagonize someone into engaging with you, because you’re basically just running around with the goalposts at this point.
Do you live in a world where inflation doesn’t exist?
This is a very long-winded “I’m rubber and you’re glue” mixed in with some silly conspiracy theorizing regarding “what the media wants you to think!” All to justify this silly sentence:
“What is “moral” is a constantly moving target and it would be absurd to run a business or even run your own life constantly worrying about what someone might or might not consider moral.”
Justifying someone’s unethical behavior by assuming others would do the same in their shoes seems very flimsy.
“Ordinary people” do not own nearly enough wealth to have to have to deal with the estate tax in any way. Stop spreading lies.
Nice try. Less than 1% of family farms would even qualify for the estate tax, and then there are multiple exemptions on top of that. An investigation conducted a few years back failed to find a single farm that had been lost because of the estate tax.
“This tax-the-rich routine is why so many ordinary people now have taxes as their number one expense by far.”
It was both of those things, as well as some other factors (including American apartheid, which enabled white men to get well-paying jobs with little competition). But denying the role that progress pro-labor policies played in the prosperity of post-war America betrays your politics and agenda.
The friends I still have that support lowering capital gains taxes also tend to gravely misunderstand how marginal tax rates work in general. They think if they get a raise that moves them into a new tax bracket, they would actually lose money.
So we’re all abandoning even the idea of ethics now?
I hid all but a very select few Trump supporters in my feed. I like to keep an eye on what they’re saying, and I think it’s valuable to get an occasional reminder that many Americans — including many of our friends and acquaintances — continue to live in an alternate reality.
Ha, do we know the same people?
