What the hell does this have to do with the subject at hand? These are two vastly different topics. Wtf?

Would all these free speech absolutists be ok with an American citizen that supports Jihadism speaking on college campuses? Can a group of American citizens that support sharia law hold a rally on some statehouse steps like the KKK?

Where is she going to go now? Nobody wants her.

And it’s always the fuckin Irish.

One thing most people don’t realize is the massive influence of Irish music on American Black music.

I mean, the guy that won is a celebrity.

As people have been saying, Watergate didn’t happen all with one big story. There were multiple cracks in the dam and THEN it all exploded. Every piece matters and adds up and can be built upon to take the next step forward to uncovering the truth.

Right. I don’t care to hear Kal Penn’s thoughts on racism after he said he supports racial profiling and stop and frisk because he got mugged once.

A24, which film quality wise is the best studio in operation right now, makes nothing but small budget flicks. Check their stuff out.

Aren’t the people in the montage submitted by family or business associates? Awards shows don’t self compile these names do they?

I can’t fault them for being in shock in the moment. That was an emotional whirlwind.

I immediately ruled out [Fences’] Viola Davis — don’t get me wrong, I love her and I think she’s wonderful, but that’s my protest vote. She should have been in the lead actress category, and when the studios put these actresses who are clearly the lead in the supporting category — like they did with [The Danish

That’s all “free speech” arguments in favor of hate groups are. People being fine with it as long as non-straight, non-whites are the target. When people that are straight and white become the target of said speech, suddenly no one’s a free speech absolutist anymore.

Yeah, I should’ve said blogs instead of film blogs. My mistake.

Nah, I look down on and am frustrated with the outsized influence they have on film criticism and how people, at least on the internet, judge how movies should be.

I don’t hate CBM at all, I watch all of them the first day they come out. But they aren’t the pinnacle of cinema like the internet and film blogs would have you believe. You can count the number of CBM that stand apart as great movies in any genre on one hand.

The Handmaiden was definitely one of the five best films I saw in 2016.

lolno. Deadpool was a basic superhero origin film with Family Guy-style dick and poop jokes added. If it had garnered a Best Picture nomination while a film like Sing Street got completely shut out, the Academy would’ve lost the rest of the minimal respect it still has.

Of course not, I watch CBM on preview Thursdays, both Marvel and DC. But CBM movies being primarily what you enjoy/treating them as the gold standard for movies?

This is a good point. I live in DC so I get access to about 95% of movies at some point. Some locales didn’t get Moonlight until like a month ago. And they may have to drive 30 minutes to the one theater that has it.
