Thin paint. Both my Maverick and my Miata seem to get new little paint chips if the wind hits them too hard.Back in the day you had worry about rust fighting its way through from behind the paint; now it seems every little thing on the road is a frontal assault on paint jobs.

This. My grandparents and later my own parents lived in 3 bedroom/1 bath homes of about 1200sf. When I was a kid in the 70s we had one tv and dad was beaming with pride when he brought it home — it was a 19 inch color set! We were driven to school in a Pinto. And yet we felt like we were doing well compared to some

So help me, Logan, if 20 years from now I come to this site and you’re lamenting the disappearance of TruckNutz, it’s over!

Seeing as how the GOP seems to be big on States Rights when it comes to abortion, education, etc., I’d like to suggest they can stay the F out of NY’s policies on traffic.

It’s not.

Definitely get the CarFax first.

Fair punishment would be to drop them off right in the middle of an uncontrolled blaze and let them fight their way out of it. Unsupported, of course.

The fools don’t realize that OPEC can just cut production and let prices stay where they are. And US oil companies aren’t going to spend billions to build new capacity or cut prices assume sort of gift to consumers. Methinks Mr. Orange and his supporters don’t really understand how the world economy works.

The grift in this administration is going to be mind-blowing. He and the first Mattress Pad have already launched their crypto currencies, and that, I’m sure, is just the beginning. Truly a sad new era for America.

Exactly. $35K and 300 mile range — hell yea. $50K and 200 mile range? Hell no. Somewhere in between? Let’s see what offers Jeep puts on the hood.

Back around 2000 I worked at an ad agency and I got to drive one of those to a commercial shoot. To be honest I was pretty stoked. But driving it was so dull -- it was uncomfortable, awkward, and not at all sporty feeling. Pretty slow, too. And while I thought I’d get lots of looks and attention, I swear no one even

Came here to say the same thing -- they need a Maverick, not a Dakota.

I’m going NP as it’s clean, low-mileage rarity that will be as effective as migrane-strength Excedrin for easing a stress—related headache. It’s one of those cars that few will recognize or appreciate, but if you want a car that’s truly for your own enjoyment and not for showing off, this can’t be beat.

I bet this thing accelerates (in speed and in sound) like a slot car from our youth.

This pic is from the BaT auction. One mile on the car? Was it kept outside?!?

Yea, kind of crazy. He could have put other people’s lives at risk if he in turn need to be rescued .

Only 1000 miles? To be fair, if I owned that thing I wouldn’t want to be seen driving it all that much, either.

Well, at least owning and maintaining this car kept at least 3 owners from donating more to Trump’s legal defense fund.

This discussion brings up an interesting question: What VW (if any) will ever really be a classic that brings big money? How high could a Gen 1 GTI go? I have to think that a $25K Corrado might be testing that upper limit.

Neat car, great condition, odd RHD configuration, but ND. It’s jut too much money for a step-child of a car. I imagine a patient search would uncover a well-kept US spec model for less money, assuming you REALLY want to spend $20-25K or so on a VW that never really set the world on fire.
