I’m all in favor of Boing rushing production and taking every shortcut it can think of to get him his plane. 

I love how 10-15 years ago all the naysayers were insufferable with their “Having both gas and electric motor is going to mean twice the trouble — I’ll never buy a hybrid” and “the batteries are going to cost $15,ooo to replace and you’ll be doing that after 5 or 6 years... you’ll have to be a moron to buy a hybrid.”

That poor 280z... looks like terminal stage 4 rust; it seems to be on every body panel. Considering what it would take to bring this thing back to glory, you might as well go ahead and spend 4-5X the money upfront and get a really clean one. 

This strikes me as the kind of thing you go out into the garage and build over the course of a few years when you just can’t bear the idea of sitting on the couch and streaming Gilmore Girls reruns with your wife. But other than for that save-your-sanity value, there’s no way you’re ever going to see more than pennies…

I certainly hope all those that were injured have a full and speedy recovery, but I can’t help chuckle at the irony of being in a car, getting hit by a plane, and then being airlifted to the hospital...

It seems like a lot of money, but let’s be real — it is a vehicle that’s at the top of its class and it’s not priced any more insanely than a lot of cars, like 911s, higher-edition Boxters, big BMW SUVS, G-Wagons, S-class Benzes, etc. Heck, even the top-end Grand Wagoner starts at $115K.
