Exactly. Quality costs more because it’s worth it. Wasn’t it one of the Click and Clack guys who would always say “it the cheap guy that pays the most”? Sadly in this case it’s not just paying in repairs, bad PR, loss of reputation, and compromises safety, it may also be cost in lives (and lawsuits). 

Don’t forget the Monte Carlos, Cutlasses, Grand Prixs, 280Zs, Regal coupes, etc. The bread and butter of the rust belt in the 198s0s.

I think at the low to mid-end there’s value — think 4 year old Accord, Camry, Kona, etc if you find one in good shape with low miles. And a 3-4 year old Silverado or F150? Yes, no point in paying crazy new truck prices.
