Too many red flags. First, it’s on craigslist. That alone tells me to brace for surprises/excuses/head-scratching mods and maintenance.

Yikes. Isn’t that about the same price that the Corvette started at just 3 years ago? America needs affordable EVs, GM, not these insanely priced vehicles.
Also, morons with aftermarket lighting. I’m talking about the guys with cheap HID kits in stock housings causing retina-tearing glare, and the “big men” in their jacked up 4x4s running ditch lights and 36inch wide LED lightbars on their bumpers. Makes me want to travel with a hammer on the passenger seat, but I know…
I’m disappointed in the level of intelligence in this world every time I see a car with a cell phone/gps unit mounted right at eye level in the middle of their field of driving vision. It gets even worse when you notice that they’re on a FaceTime call or watching a movie while driving. Honestly, getting these drivers…
NP for what will likely be perfectly dependable transportation -- any maybe even a little fun with the manual -- for a very reasonable price. I might be tempted if the flames are just graphics, but looking at them I do think they’re painted on. Still, a nice little utility vehicle for someone.
2009 VW Jetta TDI. Was a fantastic car when running, but before the 36K warranty was up it had been to the dealership for numerous check engine light issues. At 39K miles the radio just flat died (and not due to any of the several fuses that protect it) and the dealer unsympathtically told me a new radio was $1800…
One fewer Mopar on the streets of SWFL? Much appreciated!
You know what would be the perfect use for a car like this? A retirement community where golf carts are the transportation mode of choice. It would probably fit fine in one of those 3/4 scale garages, and your dog would feel far cooler riding in this than in the rear basket of a golf cart. Plus it’s borderline safe…
Tough call. At first glance it seems like a lot for a pretty tired car, but $6000 in body prep and paint work would make this thing seem pretty sweet and a nice vehicle in which to maybe someday drop in a built motor. I’d have to go ND at $15K, but at $10K it might be tempting.
Let’s all tip our hats to the young men and women that did this. Very impressive, and it gives me hope that big and useful advances are not as far off as some may think.
I’m all for EVs — and boats joining the EV revolution as well -- but this thing just doesn’t make any sense. 22k knots for an hour of run time? That’s just dismal and almost unsafe when you consider the 1/3 rule for boating — 1/3 of fuel to go out, 1/3 for getting home, 1/3 for reserve. So with this Porsche boat you…
The list of decent cars you could get for $15K is long and a lot more appealing than this beat up/dinged/scratched/worn out example. Actual nice BMWs without issues, C5 Corvettes, Boxsters, etc... ND on this wagon, all day long.
Heck, at this point you might as well just hire a Unicorn to drive it for you.
Looks nice. I’m sure it’d be a fun little ride for snick-snick shifting and proving the adage “it’s more fun to drive a slow car fast.” Reliable, cheap to maintain, why not! NP
I don’t use/trust the self parking feature on my volvo. Technically it can parallel park itself and enter/exit traditional head-in parking spots. But I grew up knowing how to parallel park, and it seems like I’d be blocking traffic too long to fiddle with any of those systems. It’s not like parking is brain surgery.
I’d drive down to some quiet retirement area of FL and start cruising CL for a nice Buick LeSabre or Lacrosse. Bulletproof, comfy, good GM stereos, and you could probably find a mint, always garaged one with less than 50K miles for about $6,000. Plus those things are near invisible so you can run the highways at an…
Everyone really needs to get back to a sense of reality. I’m 53. Graduated from a small state college that no one on here has probably ever heard of. Waited tables for a few years, broke into my desired field after a few years, and over about 4 years I worked my way up from barely more than minimum wage (in my field)…
Agreed. My the built-in Nav in my 2019 Volvo is so hard to figure out that I literally never use it. Inputting addresses makes no sense at all. Thank heavens for Carplay.
Toyota’s, at least from 2004-2016 when I last used one of their systems. The one in my 2019 Volvo leaves tons of room for improvement, too, but thanks to Apple Carplay I don’t have to rely on it too much.
If a boat is a hole in the water that you throw money into, what’s the appropriate analogy for this? I see those boxes of parts as symbols of another man’s heartbreak... run from this.
