If you are a tall plus woman, you can get pants very very few places, or brands. (thank you Wranglers.) You can make pants and skirts shorter but you can’t make them longer.

The Canadian retailer Reitmans (whose spokesmodel is allegedly dating Prince Harry) already does this and I love it. Their Petite and Tall sizes are racked separately for ease in sorting, but regular-cut clothes are all hung together, size 2-22. I love this. Just wish I loved the clothes more.

Yes, obesity is a problem in the US. But I don’t think retailers have any sort of obligation to police the supposed health of their customers by limiting availability of clothing sizes. If someone has an issue with retailers “enabling” obesity, they should target grocery stores that sell candy and bacon, not clothing…

Plus size has always been the average women’s size in the US, at least for the past few decades. The average women’s size is a 14, which is generally the beginning of the plus size category.
