The Republicans haven’t even bothered running a candidate for mayor here in the last two elections. They figure if they can dissuade city voters from going to the polls, it will help them in county and state races.

I grew up in the suburbs of Rochester and still have a lot of family there. It’s amazing to consider, but that city might be in even more dire straits than Buffalo. The “fast ferry” killed what little optimism was left after Kodak, Xerox, and B&L all fell apart.
