Officer was clearly wrong here but overall it highlights a different issue. Too often these days (read: every single time) people either fail to yeild to emergency vehicles or just don’t give a damn. While I’m pulled off to the side, multiple asshats use it as an opportunity to pass everyone pulled over, never mind

The number of stupid people in the world is going to increase if we keep baby sitting them to the point from preventing them from purchasing something, ignoring the manual, ignoring warnings, ignoring audible/visual alerts, reading the definition of the word autopilot as defined by the manual, etc.

I can’t tell you how much I disagree that using the term “autopilot” somehow implicates Tesla, as if the man wasn’t specifically trained, educated, and reminded on the limitations of the system. He was willfully and foolishly risking his life despite all warnings.

The definition of autopilot isn’t something that takes full control. That would be an autonomous car. Autopilot is something that reduces driver workload, like autopilot on an aircraft.

Much like autopilot on planes, where the term originated. It’s arguable that the colloquial interpretation of the term means Tesla should have chosen something else, but it is hardly without precedent.

While I sympathize with Brown’s family, he was asking for this to happen. His YouTube videos show a clear disregard for safety and a growing urge to push Autopilot 1 to its limits, getting in WAY too many documented near misses in shorter and short spaces of time. He began to trust it too much, and see “what he could

Not to defend him or anything, but it’s not as if this was during mid day traffic or anything.

this whole thing is dumb. street was blocked off by cops, nothing happened, hes a pro driver. Australia is being dumb and hardo using this as a distraction from shit that matters.

lol. never go 5 over huh?

Bureaucrats and politicians, uncool anywhere in the world. It’s a prerequisite.

For as cool as Australia seems sometimes they can be really uncool sometimes.

in school for automotive engineering does not equal automotive engineers

Could’ve fooled me.

I think maybe you should change your Kinja handle to Sheldon Cooper.

Weird, since everyone in that video seems thoroughly competent, careful, and generally intelligent. I guess this just goes to show you that freak accidents can occur to the best of us no matter how many precautions you take.

“completely insane.” - What’s completely insane is poking a guy who was clearly not breathing. Are cops in Chicago not trained in CPR? When a person stops breathing, every single second counts. You don’t need a medical degree to do chest compression. Every single second counts. Longer you wait, less chances of a

High RPMs kills engine longevity more than cylinder pressure. Turbo engines provide better performance at lower RPMs than do NA engines that you have to rev the snot out of to perform. The lower rev. limit of turbo engines and the ability to briskly accelate without needing to downshift will likely more than offset

Not a matter of “if” but “when”.

When I think of “hazing the new guy”, I think of harmless practical jokes. Trying to convince him to go ask the parts store for something stupid like a muffler bearing, moving things while he’s not looking, stupid little things like that.

He said that several of the things he had done to George, such as locking him in the boot of a car and hosing him down with a pressure cleaner, were things most of the apprentices were subjected to and that they would always be laughing at the end.
