Under the surface of this one is classification of the greenhouse gas CO2, not just smog precursors, as a pollutant. This is a proxy for fuel economy. Climate-change deniers, opponents of fuel economy standards and other impositions upon a free market, and vested interests in selling more fossil fuels make

The doublespeak out of every member of the Trump administration is frightening.

Totally forgot about that, but It makes sense that they made both until the could they reach CA’s goals and their own internal performance goals with the same model. Either way, exceeding requirements is the absolute dumbest complaint I’ve ever heard of.

A someone from Colorado, I’d be down for us to join them. Too bad there are too many cowtown fuckwit conservatives between us and them.

Totally agreed. The most ironic part of this is how big of a deal the republican party makes about being in favor of states’ rights, yet this is literally trying to remove a very important state’s right. I don’t know that I’ve seen any politician do this to such a ridiculous extent in my lifetime.

California should just secede from the Union and take their world’s 6th largest economy with them...

“Orangeopolis and his minions”  - Trump in 20, oh never mind.

The state isn’t imposing anything, Automakers decided, in line with Trump’s free market approach, that it was easier to just make better cars from the get go than to make multiple versions of said car.

Makes no sense.  States can set higher minimum wages, have different taxes, etc.  Why should this be any different than that?  I just don’t hope we wind up with a stupid vehicle roster like we do for handguns.

Came for this. While Ford might have been disappointed in the emissions compromise, I think he would be pleasantly surprised to learn ~40% or so of America was still A-OK with white supremacy here in 2019. Who could have guessed Hitler didn’t have to actually, you know, win to get “real America” to embrace his ethos?

Yeah, I’m not getting it.

Neutral:
He wants a deregulated free market.

Sorry about your president, guys. He didn’t seem too concerned with the cost of cars when he started tariffs on steel and electronics though.

The park service would have put divers in the water when the drowning happened but they would not have been kept around to try and find a camera unless foul play was strongly suspected. They would have been looking for a body, and once found that would have been the end of it. The park service also has slightly fewer

This story is bizarre from top to bottom.

How are you an asshole for having a loud car? My car is over 95DB Stock, and it was built in 2016.

Why are you on Jalopnik?

I miss the single-player campaign. I loved the treadmill of starting off with “I’ve driven this bunk” Honda Fits and slowly filling my garage with faster cars (and then tuning them to be even better). I look at the incredible graphics and driving feedback of GT Sport and lament that there isn’t much there for someone

I’m the biggest Sony fanboi there is, but GT has slowly depleted my interest year after year. I bought an Xbox One and Forza last year, and haven’t even thought about Gran Turismo until just now, this article.  It used to be headline news for me, now it’s an afterthought.

To me, and many other Gran Turismo fans, it’s not about the number of cars or number of tracks. It’s about the complete lack of width.
