I think it’s the American Beauty of books in that everyone who loves it now will be very embarrassed in a few years.

I also remember Jeff Goldblum as Jurrasic Park Dr Ian Malcom being my mental image of the rocker guy.
Yes! I posted this elsewhere (I’m not good at commenting on these things), but these guys do such a good satire of American literary criticism and gender bias:
It’s Lalitha.
Everyone kept insisting that The Goldfinch would get better “once you hit Vegas.” No. I kept reading, hoping that it would become less tedious, but it never did. I almost quit reading a dozen times, but never did, hoping for a payoff. The dumbest selection for a Pulitzer ever.
I hate Franzen, and I loathed that book, but I too am curious about what brought this on. Isn’t this book old news?
If you haven’t read Freedom, I can promise you that all the writing in there is just as bad as the sex parts. I would also like to remind/inform everyone about the plotline in that book where a middle-aged man falls in love with a younger Indian woman, and guess what her name is? Guess? What? Her? Name? Is?
Does anyone miss I Wanna Marry Harry? And that one girl that genuinely believed it was Prince Harry?
It really is a spectacularly dumb criticism from Dowd. Almost every single person who runs for office, regardless of party or gender, tries to paint themselves as being family oriented. To single out Hillary for doing it is just typically Dowdian idiocy.
It seems the only way we can talk about these issues is to have a female candidate - so I’m cool with that.
Only when they donate to something you disagree with. Kinda of like how Republican are all “government needs to get out of our lives (unless I like what it’s doing).”
Maybe he was trying to start conversation by letting you know who how favorite Muppet band memeber was....yeah i didn’t thank so. Sorry you had to put with that. I’m sure you have lovely teeth perfect for eating candy and chomping ghosts a la Pac-Man :P
Considering some of the nastiness going down in Libya and other places right now, I’m not sure the dad was totally wrong to do this. Considering how dangerous the trip is by boat, he probably thought the kid was safer in a carry on.
My country is one of the “border states” which is fortress europe speak for countries on the edge of the EU which are the final stops for migrants from Africa before they get to “europe proper”, which means that if, by some miracle, they do get into the EU, and then get deported, they get deported here. There are…
Considering the immigration crisis in Europe right now, I’m guessing this is an asylum seeker, not just some “crazy teens”. Most north africans try to go through Morocco before hopping over to Ceuta, a Spanish territory. Under the Schengen agreement that promises free EU citizenship and travel among EU members,…
Pure WONTON waste, am I right?
Depending on their background, living in Ivory Coast would probably be more traumatizing than temporarily being stuck in a suitcase.
What a great way of completely missing the point and making this article about a stupid girl and a stupid kid and not shedding any light on the horrific situation in which immigrants from Africa find themselves when trying to cross to Europe. This is a story about a little boy and his father desperately trying to make…
Jezzies! I got a Masters degree this week! and boyf got a promotion! and we move in together in two months! I am drinking beer and watching HGTV because he is letting me decorate the whole place however i want. Where do you guys go for unique/not too expensive home decor? Any favorite etsy shops or other online places…
The father was a resident of Spain, but his son was not. I’m sure he thought he was making the right choice to be able to raise his son in Spain, rather than Ivory Coast. Not to detract at all from how traumatizing it must have been for the little boy, but I think the context here is important, and it’s missing from…
