The motors are quiet. It’s the gearboxes that aren’t. In some ICE cars you can also hear the gearbox very clearly(See Porsche cup car for example), but it plays a secondary role to the engine sound. And EVs have much higher gearbox input speeds, which results in higher pitched sound.

Basically this just proves that making a 700hp (with probably 700 lb/ft of torque from near zero RPM) production model is largely an issue of ordering motors off a web site now that they’ve solved the power delivery problem.

Very cool. But the timing of this ‘official’ news release just doubly confirms for me that the ‘spy’ shoot was really just an elaborate pre-release of the car. I mean - they’ve basically bookended their Bronco reveal with this display.
As silly as this it, it would be straightforward to make a production version, unlike other crazy-horsepower versions of car. Heck, since they’re mostly using parts from the regular Mach-E, it probably wouldn’t even be that expensive, all things considered. Maybe an extra 50K over a Mach-E GT, which is stupid-cheap…
