The cab-to-bed transition is an ‘aesthetic’ born from the fundamentals of how a truck mechanically came to exist. Replicating that is reasonable as it has become a fundamental character trait of “a truck” (and makes accessing the forward section of the bed from the side of the vehicle easier as well).
